A former Katsina State Grand Khadi, Mallam Isah Mahammed Dodo, has attributed the present poverty situation in the country to failure of the three tiers of government to fully implement theiryearly budget.
Dodo, who made this assertion at a Ramadan lecture organised by the Imam Malik Foundation on Tuesday, said the budgets prepared by the three tiers have failed to address the problems bedevilling the nation for many years.
He explained that Nigerians had high expectations of government's yearly budget, but their expectations were always dashed due to non- implementation of the budget as provided by law.
The cleric also blamed the national and state assemblies for not exercising their constitutional role as regards budget implementation, alleging that, they have connived with the executive arm of government to siphon money into their personalpockets.
He, however, called on Nigerians to hold their representatives at national and state assemblies responsible for the present level ofpoverty in the country.
On insecurity issue, Dodo called for continued prayers from all Nigerians, noting that, prayers remained the only solution.
