The movie is a modern dramaturgical experiment about the classical philosophical discourse concerning the concept of destiny and fate element which was started by Sophillus Sophocles (c.496-406 BC) with Oedipus Rex around 430BC by Ola Rotimi (1938-1999) with a title, The Gods are not to Blame in 1968. It justifies the opinion that man is the architect of his own fortune and misfortune. It is a contemporary movie adaptation which the society, setting and language portrays a modernism and realism.
It tells the story of a queen mother (Carol King) who tries to save her new born from being killed as suggested by the diviner. The baby was discovered to have a bad destiny-to kill his father and marry his mother. Things however go awry when 28 years after, fate brings the child in contact with his destiny.
The movie was directed by Funke Fayoyin and parades quite a good number of stars such as Carol King, Bayo Alawiye, Seun Akindele, Gabriel Afolayan, Gloria Anozie-Young, Ireti Doyle, Kareem Adepoju, Akin Lewis, Bukky Ajayi, Moji Olaiya, Nobert Young, Omowunmi Dada amongst others
The movie was written by Otun Rasheed; produced by Mohammed Ayoub and Byron Ene. Music by Femi Kuti and Mike Aremu.
'The Gods Are Still Not to Blame' movie is in Nigerian cinemas across the country after it premiered at Silverbird Galleria on Friday 19th April 2013.

Monday warned the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel
Igbinedion, to stop undermining state laws.
The Governor said this at the inauguration of 14
newly elected local government chairmen in Benin.
According to him, the government had the capacity
and the will to contain Igbinedion's excesses.
He also urged the state Independent Electoral
Commission to tender unreserved apology to the
people of the state for the lapses recorded in the
local government election held on Saturday.
He said, "There is evidence that he (Igbinedion) has
undermined the prosperity of the state for a very
long time. Those who live in glass houses do not
"I want to send a warning message to Chief
Igbinedion that he should take it easy; he has
acquired a lot of government land that the people
have not engaged him on. He walks as if he is
above the law.
He was a chief tax collector in this
state, pocketing 25 to 30 percent of every kobo that
accrued while his son was the Governor.
"I have not looked back because my mandate is to
look forward. I want to put him on notice that if he
continues with elderly rascality, I will bring him to
"He must never ever underestimate the fact that I
have the will and I have the capacity to deploy that
will; if he crosses the law, he will be cut to size.
"Elders must teach the younger ones to behave
He also lambasted Igbinedion over his alleged
conduct on election day on Saturday in Okada.
"You heard how he is using ITV in a very reckless
manner, in clear breach of the NBC code. He
reduced himself as a high chief, leaving where he is
registered to vote and going all the way to Okada
on a day movement was restricted across the state.
"He got to Okada and illegally used mobile
policemen to walk on the street; going to the police
station where sensitive election materials were
kept in order to vandalise the sensitive electoral
materials to ensure elections did not take place.
"If he misleads himself into believing that he has
the birthright to continue to appropriate and
privatise the resources of Edo State, he is living in a
accident on Sunday.
According to reports, Nwode had been on an official assignment. He was driving back after an inspection of some of his projects scheduled to be commissioned by Governor Martin Elechi during the ongoing 'Thank You Tour' to LGAs in the state.
The accident happened at Nkwagu Military
Cantonment, at about 4:30 pm as he drove his Hilux
Van, with registration number: LG 01A NCA.
Four others sustained various degrees of injuries.
Read below as we find out why he signed up for #OneMicNaija and who he hopes to work with!
What will 2013 look like music wise?
2013 will be a year of change and growth, in Nigerian music. Our sound is beginning to evolve and expand, slowly but surely. Have you performed live before? What was your first experience like?
I've never performed my own songs with a Live band before. However, it's always been something I looked forward to.Why did you sign up for #OneMicNaija?
I believe in the ideals of #OneMicNaija. What you're doing for the talent in our industry, both those undiscovered and those known, is definitely something to patronize. What should we expect from your performance?
You should expect great music, great energy, and most importantly, a performance to be remembered.Which of the other artistes on the line up would you love to work with?Answer: As of now, I haven't worked with any of the artists. Myself and Jaywon however, have plans to record a track together.
So, April 28th at Swe Bar will officially be Iceberg Slim's FIRST live band performance and this is definitely something to turn up for!
