There was anxiety among members of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Ondo State, on Saturday, which arose from rumours that the party did not meet the deadline given by the Independent National Electoral Commission, for the submissions of forms for the October 20, governorship poll in the state.
It was gathered that INEC had all parties involved in the elections up to August 15, to submit the form with names and details of their flag bearers.
The form symbolised formal notice of the parties to INEC, of their intention to participate in the election.
Our correspondent further learnt that all other parties except the ACN submitted the form before the August 15 deadline.
When contacted on the telephone on Saturday, the ACN candidate, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, declined comments on the issue.
But he directed our correspondent to INEC for clarifications on the situation of things.
Paradoxically, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mr. Akin Orebiyi, also declined comments on the matter..
He simply said, “I will not make any comment on that issue.”
