Bombers target Jos police station

Just as Muslims were preparing for the Eid-el-Fitri, an Improvised Electronic Device exploded on Thursday night in Rikkos in the restive Jos North Local Government area of Plateau State.
A nearby police outpost was said to be the target of the attack, but no policeman was affected.
The blast injured one person, while three houses and a vehicle were damaged.
The target on the police post was the first of its kind in the series of bombings in the state.
Media Officer of the Special Task Force in the state, Capt. Salisu Mustapha, while confirming the explosion in a statement, said no one was killed.
He said, “An Improvised Explosive Device exploded between a police outpost and some residential buildings on Layin Walin Street, Rikkos in Jos North Local Government Area. The police post, three other houses and a vehicle were affected by the blast.”
The media officer gave the name of the injured person as Alhaji Abubakar Adamu, who is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
The explosion was said to have jolted residents of the Jos metropolis and its environs, especially as security agencies in the state have made preparation for any untoward incident during the festival.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in Jos ahead of the celebration on Saturday (today).
As part of the security measure, a joint military and police patrol team carried out a show of force around the city.
The victim of the explosion, Adamu, said on his hospital bed on Friday, “I saw the greatest calamity of my life. I woke up around 11 pm to eat in my sitting room with one of my children.
“Some minutes later, I heard a very loud sound. At that moment, I thought it was a thunderstorm, but before I knew it, smoke filled everywhere and that is what I could remember as I finally saw myself on a hospital bed.”
