2 burnt to death in Ibadan auto crash

Two people were, in the early hours of Saturday, burnt to death while electrical materials worth millions of naira destroyed in an auto crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The victims, the driver and two occupants were coming from Lagos, heading to Katsina in J5 bus with registration number XA 142 CRC. The vehicle, it was learnt, somersaulted before catchingfire.
A source told the Nigerian Tribune that a trailer carrying wood had wanted to make U-turn at the Bodija, Aduloju Bus-stop on theExpress- way around 1.00a.m, when the driver of the J5 bus, whiletrying to avoid the trailer, applied brake which made the vehicle to crash into a stationary vehicle before the explosion which led to an outbreak of fire.
The worshippers at a nearby church and some night security guards around the scene of the incident had rushed to the scene of the incident.
The occupants of the vehicle were brought out with severe burns and taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
However, two of the victims died while on admission at the hospital.
The Principal Fire Superintendent, Mr Olayemi Abdul Rasak, who led other fire fighters to the scene of the incident around 1.35a.m, said there were only three occupants in the vehicle and that they sustained various degrees of burns.
He also confirmed that the J5 bus, which was coming from Lagos was carrying electrical materials to Katsina State.
The state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Godwin Ogagaoghene, also confirmed the incident, saying that officials of the corps had been sent to the scene of theincident for rescue operation.
