A 26- year-old man identified as Wale Odumosu was swept away by flood, on Thursday, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, while trying to save a drowning cow.

One Mr Hammed, who claimed to be the deceased’s master, told Saturday Tribune that Odumosu, a resident of Adefisan area of the town, missed his steps as he attempted to hold the cow’s horns as it was being swept away by a flood caused by heavy rains.

Hammed blamed the flooding on the re-direction of floods from Ijebu-Ode township to the area.

The chairman of Isope Community Landlords Association, Alhaji Mushafau Osibanjo, said the re-channelisation of the drainage to the area, which had become a subject of controversy, was responsible for the incident.
