Oil thieves won’t go unpunished-Jonathan’s aide

The Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ali Gulak, has said that none of those found guilty of shortchanging the Federal Government and Nigerians in the oil subsidy scandal will escape punishment.
Gulak said that contrary to insinuations in certain quarters, the President was committed to fighting corruption in the country.
He said Jonathan seemed not to be in hurry to take decisions on certain burning issues in the country because he was determined to ensure that things were done in line with due process and the rule of law.
The presidential aide made this statement on Thursday evening, during a courtesy call on him by members of the Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Forum for Global Peace, led by Mr. Tamaraudoubra Zimughan.
He said, “The President will never support corruption and anyone found to have soiled his hands in the fuel subsidy scandal will not go unpunished. He won’t support or back anybody who has soiled his hands in the fuel subsidy scandal. He has given the security agencies the permission to investigate and prosecute those found wanting.
“It is not enough to accuse somebody of a particular crime. There must be evidence to back it up. Anybody who has shortchanged the Federal Government will not escape justice.”
