Ibadan flood: 23-yr-old apprentice’s body found in drainage

THE corpse of a 23-year-old radio mechanic
apprentice, Abayomi Amusan, has been discovered in
a drainage in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP
Olabisi Clet-Ilobanafor, told the Nigerian Tribune in
Ibadan on Thursday that the deceased was found
dead in a drainage by workers of a construction firm.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that another victim of
Saturday's flood in Ibadan was found at the Dandaru
Dam on Secretariat/Paliament Road, Ibadan, on
Thursday but the PPRO said it was not at the dam but
at Alakia Adenubi in Egbeda Local Government Area
of the state.
She said that the deceased, who was found in the
drainage, was a resident of Oba Odan, in Olosan area
in the state capital.
According to her, the body of the deceased was
recovered by the workers of construction firm
working on Papa-Olosan road and had been taken to
Adeoyo General Hospital mortuary.
It will be recalled that five persons, including two
policemen were, last Saturday, swept away during a
heavy downpour in Ibadan.
Three bodies of the victims were seen floating on
Tuesday on Dandaru Dam on the Secretariat/
Paliament Road, Ibadan.
Two of the three bodies were police officers with the
state police command.
The victims, Ojo Adelusi, Sunday Ijoh, Sunkami
Iyiola,Wole Iyiola and Ope Ogungbemi had left for a
social function in the metropolis around 10.30 p.m.
on Saturday when their car fell into a canal at
Favours area of Bodija, in Ibadan.
