A statement from the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, said seven other persons sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident which happened around midday.
Amaraizu said the accident involved a Toyota Camry with registration number AL 578 AGU and a 504 station wagon with registration number AL 772 GGE.
The statement said both drivers died on the spot while the third casualty gave up in a hospital at 9th Mile Corner, near Enugu.
It said the bodies of the unidentified casualties had been deposited in a mortuary.
