Man in court for allegedly biting co-tenant
A 29-year-old man, Emmanuel Chukwu, who allegedly assaulted his co-tenant, following a misunderstanding appeared before an Asaba Chief Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
The Police Prosecutor, Mr Augustine Otubu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct.1 at Achalla Community, Ibusa in the Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta.
Otubu said that the accused, on the same date and place, unlawfully assaulted one Sylvanus Izuka by biting him on his left eyebrow, causing him harm.
He said that the offence contravened section 388 of the Criminal Code C21 Vol. 1, Laws of Delta State, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge and was granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with a surety in like sum by the Chief Magistrate, Mr Sylvester Ehikwe.
Ehikwe ordered that the surety should provide two passport-sized photographs and swear to an affidavit of means.
He adjourned the case to Oct. 25 for hearing
