“If you marry the modern way like on Facebook, you may likely divorce; Pastor Adeboye warns Youth

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has spoken against marriages contracted through social media.

Adeboye who was speaking yesterday in Abuja at the wedding ceremony of President Goodluck Jonathan’s daughter, Faith Sakwe to Godswill Edward Osim, said young people should go the traditional way by involving God in their relationships.

According to him: “If you marry the modern way like on Facebook, you may likely divorce the modern way. Marry traditionally and involve God.”

He advised the groom to correct his wife “in love” adding that the success of marital relationships rests mainly on the husband.

The clergyman also urged mothers-in-law to avoid interfering in the life of the new couple.

The wedding which was broadcast live on national television was attended by former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Rivers Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd.); former Head, Interim National Government, Ernest Shonekan; President of the Senate, David Mark; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihediora; among others.
