Violence is not the response to violence and avoiding violence is not timidity but great wisdom hence the Yoruba adage that a Warlord is he who both fierce and timid as he knows all too well when to run and when to face up to a battle. But all too often, we forget what the good books says about peace and our human moral code and seeks to pay an eye for an eye. This month, Live Theatre on Sunday premieres a new play in Lagos, titled Another Episode of Trauma. The play features the story of Joseph who loses in his sister to a violent attack, Joseph, and finds himself enraged into a revolutionary retaliatory undertaking as he attempts to obliterate the perpetuator through Guerilla warfare. His mission sets him on a bitter collision between with those he loves and cherishes. Joseph's troubles magnify as his psychological imbalance creates tension in his home, work and society.
Written by Temiloluwa Fosudo, son of Nigeria’s foremost actor and theatre academic, Sola Fosudo and directed by Sylvester Obieze and produced by Adenugba Oluwanishola for Davidhouse Multimedia. The play comes up this Sunday at the New Unity Centre, 28 Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos at 4.00pm and 5.15pm respectively.
