Aveiro made the stunning confession in her new tell-all, Mother Courage, which was released on Friday.
“I wanted to abort but the doctor didn’t support my decision,” Ms Aveiro wrote, according to Britain’s Independent .
Instead, Aveiro opted for a home recipe designed to kill the foetus.
She said she drank the warm mixture and “ran til she dropped”, without achieving her aim.
Upon hearing the news, the soccer star apparently made light of the situation.
“He told me when he found out, ‘Look mum, you wanted to abort and now I’m the one who’s pulling the purse-strings in the house,” she said.
