Explosion rocks Abuja shopping plaza

Residents scampered for safety on Thursday as explosion rocks Shagari Plaza on Moshood Abiola Way, Garki-Area One, Abuja.
The quick succession in which the explosion occurred made customers and neighbours to scamper into safety. Many expressed fears that it was a bomb explosion.
But an eyewitness account said the first explosion occurred at about 5:17pm when a gas cylinder exploded. A jeep parked close to the gas dispenser went up in flames.

The accident, which occurred at about 3.0pm, involved an 18-seater white Mazda passenger bus marked LAGOS KTU 554 XH and a DAF truck marked LAGOS AAA 932 XC.
Another Nigerian Stabbed To Death In Malaysia
An online newspaper, www.mid-day.com reported the Nigerian was stabbed to death near Shalimar society in Kondhwa on Sunday around 8pm. The Kondhwa police have arrested Nigerian national, George Aimer (34), for allegedly murdering his countryman, Oscar (25), by stabbing him in the chest with a broken glass bottle.

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, today nullified the collection of any toll or tariff on the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge.
Ruling on the suit, which was filed by human rights lawyer, Ebun Adegboruwa, presiding judge, Justice Saidu, J. held that the power of control over all navigable waterways in Nigeria resides in the Federal Government, and not any state government.
He held that from all the documents made available to the court, the only justification for the toll fee on the bridge by Lagos State is the private partnership law.
However, he noted that the law could not apply to the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge since it was built with the money of the Lagos State Government, without the involvement of any private partnership.
“Thus, since there is no law supporting the toll fee, it is illegal and should be stopped forthwith”, Justice Saidu said.
Lagos State To Experience 263Days Of Rainfall This Year.
Lagos State government, yesterday, declared that the state is expecting 263 days of rainfall this year and this may be accompanied with strong winds, lightning and thunderstorms.
It added that rainstorms would be common over the coastal cities areas with occasional flash flood and ocean surges that would greatly affect persons living along the flood plains but the magnitude of devastation shall depend on the activities of the people.
It would be recalled that the state government last year, announced rainfall of between 249 and 275 days with intermittent stoppages.
The state Commissioner for the Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello, stated this at the presentation of year 2014 annual seasonal rainfall prediction and socio- economic implication for the state as earlier predicted by Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NIMET, held at Ministry’s office, Alausa, Ikeja.
“The Seasonal Rainfall Prediction, SRP, rainfall onset date for this year began in the first week of March in the southernmost part of the country and late June in the far northern parts. However, rainfall onset in Lagos Stare has since commenced from 14 March, 2014 in Ikeja, with a three days marginal error was given.
“The strong winds, lighting and thunderstorms which are regular phenomena during the onset and cessation of rainfall was also predicted to occur in stronger magnitude during this year’s raining period,” he stated.

Police in Ojongbodu division in the Oyo-West Local Government Area of Oyo State has commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the mysterious death of a woman at a guest house in Oyo town.
The incident happened barely 72 hours after a human abattoir was discovered in a forest at Soka area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
It was learnt that the deceased was said to have been invited by her boy friend to a popular guest house at about 7pm where both of them booked for a room.
But to the surprise of workers, at the guest house, which is located at Jaremily area along Ilora road, neither the man nor his concubine could be found inside the room after the expiration of their booked time.
After a search, the lifeless body of the woman was said to have been found inside the bathroom with water showering on her head.

Army kills 18 B’Haram members in Borno
The Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, said in an electronic mail on Monday that the Special Forces also destroyed five pickup vehicles, seven gulf cars and one Toyota Hillux truck belonging to the group.
Olukolade said that the soldiers also found 16 burnt AK 47 assault rifles at the scene of the battle.
He said that the Special Forces encountered the insurgents while they were making moves to attack some communities in the area.
Olukolade said the Special Forces screened and released 75 villagers in a cordon and search operation that followed the gun battle with the insurgents.

The class, introduced the Bold & Naked studio in Chelsea, is supposed to provide students with a new way to focus on celebrating their bodies and is not intended to be sexually evocative.
There are a lot of things that separate us in a normal yoga class, like what brand of yoga clothing you’re wearing or how you look when you’re wearing it,’ Vanessa Kennedy, a naked yoga class attendee, told Reuters. ‘But when we’re naked, it’s like we’re all the same.’
At Bold & Naked Yoga (pictured), it is not about being naked for naked’s sake yet about ‘finding the strength to expose your vulnerability and connect to yourself and others on the deepest level’
As the studio writes on its website: ‘While many equate being naked with sex, this couldn’t be further from the truth in a naked yoga class. It’s about being comfortable in your own skin and the amazing confidence that comes with it.
‘Practicing yoga naked frees you from negative feelings about your body and allows [you] to be more accepting and deeper connected with yourself and the world around you.’
The studio offers $25 naked yoga classes in a co-ed format, as well as those that are segregated by gender. It also offers fully-clothed classes and teacher training programs in tantric ‘yogassage.’
The naked instruction courses do not allow observers or photography, and students must sign a liability waiver before entering the class.
Much like in fully-clothed yoga classes, Bold & Naked, which is the brainchild of co-owner Joschi Schwarz, says that students should expect for teachers to hand-administer postural corrections. Partner work is also sometimes involved in the classes’ vinyasa flow sequences.
