#HalaMadrid: Real Madrid Wins 2014 Champions League

Real Madrid came from behind to win 2014 Champions League title in extra time at the expense of Atletico Madrid.

Diego Godin profited from an Iker Casillas error to head Atletico in front after Gareth Bale had fired wide in 35th minute.

Real fought back in second half and Sergio Ramos scored the equalizer that paved way for Real Madrid victory in the 93rd minute.

Bale scored the second goal for Real Madrid while Marcelo scored a third and Cristiano Ronaldo seal the victory with penalty in 118th minute of the final played in Portugal.

Saturday’s victory is the 10th Champions League Cup for the richest cup in the world.

Carlo Ancelotti led Real Madrid to win Spanish Copa Del Ray and Champions league leaving rival Barcelona to win nothing for 2013/2014 season as Atletico Madrid won La Liga with 90points on 18th May, 2014.

Good news? Bomber dies in Jos viewing centre bomb blast (READ)

An attempt by a suicide bomber to kill football fans in Jos on Saturday night was unsuccessful but he was killed in the blast.

The bomber, who approached Jos viewing centre while people were watching the match between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, could not get there before his car exploded. It was a few minutes into the second half of the match.

Goodluck Jonathan Leaves For South Africa

Just after handling over the 2014 budget to the Minister of Finance, President Jonathan left Abuja for Pretoria, South Africa where he will take part in a high-level discussions with other African Heads of State and Government on combating terrorism in Africa as well as the inauguration of President Jacob Zuma for second term.

He is due back in the country on Saturday after Zuma’s inauguration.

President Jonathan Signs 2014 Budget

President Goodluck Jonathan this morning has signed the 2014 budget into law. According to the Ministry of Finance, the signing followed the completion of statutory legislative processes.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, will brief journalists later today about it.

According to the Chairman, Students’ Representative Council and Organizing Committee, Ojebola Matthew, the event is meant to help discover new potentials aside the regular academics which will help motivate them in developing their skills.

Lagos State Begins Teaching of Chinese Language in Schools

Lagos state Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye

The State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Olayinka Oladunjoye, yesterday announced that the State had commenced pilot teaching and learning of Chinese (Mandarin) Language in five Lagos State schools.

The schools who have started teaching this language are Bolade Junior Grammar School, Oshodi and Ikeja Junior Grammar School, Immaculate Heart Comprehensive Junior High School, Maryland/Mende Junior High School and New Era Junior Girls School, Surulere.
