The Bayern Munich winger has been carrying a back problem for the past few weeks, but Deschamps remained optimistic of his chances of playing in the competition.
However, the 31-year-old has finally broken down and will miss the mundial.
“This morning Ribery stopped during a run. Now, he cannot train,” Deschamps explained. “Tests have confirmed a worsening of the situation. He cannot play.”
