Beneficiaries of free eye treatment commend foundation


Beneficiaries of the free eye treatment provided by Muhammadu Anchau Educational Development Foundation in Kwami Local Government Area (LGA) of Gombe State, on Tuesday commended the foundation for the gesture.

The beneficiaries, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Malam Sidi, headquarters of Kwami LGA, said the foundation had assisted them in an invaluable way.

They said that residents of the area were bedeviled by various eye problems, and that anyone who intervened in that disease, was directly solving the problems of majority of the people in the area.

A beneficiary, Malam Yaro Shetima, said the intervention had assisted them in ensuring that they regained their sight.

He called on other well meaning individuals in the society, to emulate the foundation by providing humanitarian services.

Another beneficiary, Mrs Aishatu Aliyu, thanked the foundation for intervening in their area of need and prayed God to reward the founders.

Speaking earlier, the Founder, Alhaji Hassan Muhammadu, said the gesture was part of his contribution to address the need of the people in the area.

Muhammadu, who is the Commissioner of Finance in the state, said that similar treatment was given to 400 patients in Bojude, Gaddam, Kwami and Komfulata villages in the LGA last week.

Represented by his Special Assistant, Alhaji Adamu Isa, the founder said that for three to four days, the team of ophthalmologists would be at the Malam Sidi Cottage Hospital, to attend to patients in the area and its environs.

He said the foundation decided to intervene in health care delivery since it was one of the prevalent problems of the area.
