Mavin Record signees, Korede Bello, Aphrodija & Reekado Banks are guests on this week’s episode of Nigeria’s number one music TV show, MTV Base Official Naija Top Ten. 

The trio, who co-hosted the show with MTV VJ, Ehiz spoke about their careers and where they see the Nigerian music industry in a couple of years. They later gave a mini performance of their single, “Adaobi” and spoke about the Mavin UK concert, which comes up in a couple of weeks.

Music diva, Seyi Shay has clinched the number one spot for the third week with her monster video, “Murda” featuring Patoranking and Shaydee. The Mavin all stars which was the latest entry last week has shot up to the number two spot overthrowing Burna Boy with the hit video, “Dorobucci”.

This week’s latest entry is Banky W with “Jaiye Ori mi”.

Awww! See Uti Nwachukwu Gushing Over Love Gesture On #StarTheWinnerIs.

Its nice to see attention shift focus from contestants every once in a while on TV shows as was the case on last weekend’s episode of Star The Winner Is with Uti Nwachukwu getting some love from one of the female contestants.

Handing him a red rose, sassy looking Dunnie Lawal, a 22-year-old contestant made Uti Nwachukwu grin ear to ear while she sang Asa’s Be My Man to his thrill.

Dapper looking as always, Uti, host of the show, did not hide his excitement as he even teased the 101-jury members of his lovely red rose, which he had just received.

We are not certain that Uti will become Dunnie’s man just yet, but Uti the wide grin on Uti’s face will not be forgotten soon.

Day 2 Audition for #AmstelMaltaShowTime Holds Sept 15 at Unilag Arts Theatre

The final leg of Amstel Malta Showtime Season 3, which kicked off in Enugu on the 29^th of August, is set to commence this weekend, in Lagos.

The groundbreaking concert drama tagged “The Rush” directed by celebrated art director, Ice Nweke, will feature 5 talents selected via auditions, which will hold at the Unilag Arts Theatre on the 14^th and 15^th September.

 

Talents ranging from musicians, actors, comedians, contortionists, puppeteers e.t.c will have to impress the judges with an exceptional display of their unique abilities during the auditions in order to stand a chance of featuring alongside popular and renowned Nigerian entertainers: Sound Sultan, Phyno, Gordons, Ice Nweke and Ukalina.

NEMA says Death toll now 40 in Synagogue building collapse

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says the death toll in the Synagogue Church building collapse in the Ikotun area of Lagos has risen to 40.

"It’s now 40 dead,” NEMA southwest coordinator Ibrahim Farinloye, told AFP by text message.

124 people have so far been rescued alive from the rubble of the building said to be a guesthouse for foreign followers of the church. The building collapsed as construction work was going on to raise the 2-storey building to a five storey building.

Oscar Pistorius, the man who killed his wife, not guilty of murder

South African Olympic and Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius has been found “not guilty” of murdering long-time girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in the early hours of 14 February 2013.

The judge said there were not enough facts to prove the most serious charge of pre-meditated murder. She said the case was based entirely on circumstantial evidence and dismissed the witness testimony. She said the witnesses were unreliable as they were confused when giving testimony and said most of what they said weren't accurate. She said even if Oscar was evasive with some facts, and was a 'very poor' witness, it doesn't mean he's guilty of murder. 

She explained that Oscar's reaction after killing Reeva shows he didn't have criminal intent, hadn't foreseen he'd killed her. She said he could not have faked his reaction minutes after the shooting. She even dismissed the whatsapp message between the lovers, saying relationships are dynamic. She also said evidence did not support the state's claim of second degree murder.

"The state has not proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of premeditated murder. There are just not enough facts to support such a finding'- she said.

While he's not guilty of premeditated murder, he awaits to find out if he's guilty of culpable homicide (manslaughter) which is the negligent death of another. It means there was no intention to kill but the killing is unlawful. 

Court was then adjourned until Friday, with no final verdict anounced.
